The North Okanagan - A Photographers Dream

We have some of the most STUNNING photography locations here in the Okanagan. I am always so giddy to stumble upon new spots when I head out for an adventure. Let's talk about some of the great local options

Consider your location choice an

extension of your overall look for your photo.

Your Location Choice sets the whole vibe!

If you're feeling the cute beachy dress, bare feet, and a floppy sun hat look for your Vernon maternity photography session it's going to look awfully funny if your backdrop isn't one of our many warm sandy beaches! Juniper Bay and Jade Bay in Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park, Kekuli Bay in Coldstream, or Ellison Provincial Park out in Okanagan Landing all have top notch beaches that are often deserted in the off and shoulder season.

Perhaps your idea of a great location has a little bit of it all! Variety is the spice of life of course.

Along with the 3 locations already listed, one of my favourite Armstrong family photography locations which you'll often see me utilize is the Pleasant Valley Senior Secondary Eco Trail. It provides a field, trees, mountains, and the lush green valley view, what more could a photographer ask for! I love the proximity to town and ease of accessibility for families with strollers or wagons. We've also got the Thomas Hayes Ecological Reserve (expect a 10 minute trek into this photo spot) The easy access Otter Lake Park has pretty purple wildflowers in the later summer, along with a gorgeous willow tree, and a little dock. This Armstrong photographer loooooves it here!

Looking for more of a Country Roads Take Me Home vibe for your North Okanagan photography location?

Come with me to a hush hush location about 15 minutes outside of Vernon and Armstrong that gives Yellowstone vibes and big blue skies, mountains, fields for km's, tall pines, birch trees, and even an old homestead. If we're lucky the cows may even be on the range!

We have some KILLER views from the mountains. Picture yourself and partner showing up to your Vernon engagement photos. You're seriously questioning why I told you to drive up to The Rise. Your jaw drops when you notice that the golden hour sun kisses the mountain top creating a sun flare as Okanagan Lake glows hazily in the background. The stunning Arrowleaf Balsam Root or "Okanagan Sunflower" blooms here from Late April to Early June, with May being the peak month to head to this GORGEOUS location! There's a few varieties of other purple and yellow wildflowers that bloom here in early June as well if you miss the Arrowleaf.

And of course, for when you've got a tiny fresh newborn babe,

There's No Place Like Home here in the North Okanagan for your lifestyle newborn photography session.

I'm always watching out for those stunner NORTH Okanagan photo locations, so be sure to check back with me from time to time for more options!
